ap-events are pleased to announce following the success of the third Danish Elvis Festival of 2018 details of the 2019 Danish Elvis Weekend, which is full of top class entertainment from early afternoon until late night over the whole weekend.

The weekend offers the opportunity to see and hear some of the finest Elvis Tribute Artists in the world performing showcases with a full live band and backing singers and also have the opportunity to stay at the beautiful Elvis Festival Hotel based directly on the beach. We have the following Elvis Tribute Artists on the program in 2019:

 Mario Kombou England:

Throughout his career as an Elvis tribute artist, Mario has won numerous contests including the Images of the King Championship in Memphis. He is currently playing and singing to full houses in Great Britain as well as in several other European Capital cities with his own-produced show “Elvis Years”. Mario was also selected among many hundreds of hopeful tribute artists in England and the United States to play the lead role in Jailhouse Rock at the Piccadilly Theater in London’s Westend.

 Juan Lozano, Wales:

In addition to being an amazing Elvis tribute artist, Juan is also a very talented musician. Juan Lozano was selected among many aspiring Elvis tribute artists to participate in the BBC’s World Greatest Elvis. Juan have been a life long Elvis fan and even to this day he is still finding out interesting facts about the man who is the main inspiration in Juan´s life. 

“I have so much to thank Elvis for and having the privilege of working as an Elvis Tribute Artist has presented me with so many beautiful opportunities in life that otherwise would not have happened. From the amazing people i`ve met to performing live on TV” Juan says.

Brian Trøjborg / Troy, Denmark:

Brian Troy has performed with his Elvis Tribute show and his own band “Elvis On My Mind” for 17 years throughout Denmark. He won the title Best Elvis Tribute Artist in Scandinavia in 2013, and he has also twice been semifinalist in the competition Europe’s tribute to Elvis in Blackpool, England. Brian also won the Images of the King qualifier in Denmark in 2017.

Ricky Aron, England:

Ricky from Liverpool in the UK knew from an early age that he wanted to be a singer. After working on various touring shows with bands, he decided to pursue his solo career performing as his tribute to Elvis.He decided to enter the European heat of The Intimate Elvis Contest in June 2007. He was voted Best 1950,s Elvis, and placed 3rd overall. Since then apart from his many shows, he has won Best Festival Elvis from the Porthcawl Elvis festival, and was also crowned Europe’s Tribute to Elvis Champion in 2015, which qualified Ricky to compete in Memphis. He represents the Danish Elvis Festival in the finals of the Images of the King August 2018.

Eddy Popescu, England:

Eddy was born in Romania in 1977. As a 6 year old Eddy first saw Elvis in the film “Fun In Acapulco”, and from then on wanted to be a singer like him.After learning some Elvis songs, and playing guitar, he moved to the UK with his family in 2010 and started to pursue his career as an Elvis tribute.In 2014 Eddy competed in The European Elvis Championship in Birmingham, and was crowned Best Gospel Champion for that year. Eddy has performed all over the UK, and abroad, having competed in the Flaming Star festival in Canada, winning Best Gospel, and People’s choice winner of 2017.He also finished 2nd place in the Pro Division at the same event.Eddy was voted 2nd place people’s choice at the Danish Elvis festival of 2017, and bettered that at the 2018 festival by winning the Audience vote trophy.

Graceland Band:

The weekend offers a reunion with the Graceland band coming from Wales. They are used to playing for tribute artists at shows at home and abroad. The band has been a great success at the 3 previous Elvis weekends, so we are looking forward to seeing them back in Denmark again in 2019.

Backing singers:

Fiona Ford is a Lancashire (UK) based singer/songwriter. Fiona writes and performs original material with her partner, Gerard McDonald. Career credits to date include numerous major Theatre tours, including backing vocals for Joe Longthorne on his current UK tour. Fiona has also toured with singing legend PJ Proby, as well as working on large scale show’s dedicated to the music of Elvis Presley. In her own words Fiona wrote.” I always knew that I just had to sing. I would wait until my parents went out, then sing to the top of my voice “

Nicole Monique Johnson is originally from Los Angeles, California, Nicole brings a unique blend of American Gospel, Jazz, and classical training to the various music projects she has worked on since leaving the US in 1999. Electric and versatile, Nicole has worked all over the world as a backing vocalist, studio session vocalist, and soloist covering material in the Rock and Roll, folk, Jazz, classical, and musical theatre genres. Nicole has also taken on many directorships and workshops in Gospel music, harmony singing, a capella singing, and vocal characterisation over the span of 20 years. Nicole currently resides in Reading, UK.

Peter Edwards, Wales:

Peter Edwards will host our festival weekend.

Prequalification for the Images of the King Competition in Memphis.

Finally, the weekend will again offer a prequalification round for the contest the Images of the King in Memphis, where you will have the opportunity to see many Elvis tribute artists from all over Europe competing to compete in the final in Memphis. 

The Images of the King contest is held every year in Elvis week in Memphis in August and the Danish winner 2019 qualifies for going directly to the Memphis semifinal in August the same year.
